How to practise with a metronome
- Start slower than feels necessary, where you can play the passage cleanly every time.
- Play three clean repetitions, then raise the tempo by 2 to 5 BPM.
- If you make mistakes, drop back to the last clean tempo.

Common tempos: ballads often sit around 60 to 80 BPM, pop around 100 to 130, house around 120 to 128 and drum and bass around 170 to 175.
